Cebu and Bohol, Philippines
This trip to the Philippines lasted only about 40 hours, but it still felt like a complete journey.
One of the advantages of living in Asia is how easily a normal week can turn into a short trip somewhere unexpected. A late booking on Thursday evening was enough to be in Bohol and Cebu by the weekend.
Swimming with whale sharks near Oslob was one of the moments that defined the trip. Seeing them for the first time from the water changes your sense of scale immediately. After the initial surprise, the experience becomes calm and almost quiet despite their size.
The following day ended at Kawasan Falls with a long canyoning route through turquoise water and narrow jungle canyons. It was one of those activities that turns a simple stop into the highlight of a trip.
Even in less than two days, the Philippines showed again how easy it is to combine water, landscape and movement into a short but memorable journey.
